Hey Reader,

Ladies and gentlemen it's the moment we know you've all been waiting for. It's time to answer the age-old question:

Who would make the better MUN delegate: MrBeast or Greta Thunberg?

Both are massively influential, controversial, and driven, but when it comes to navigating a MUN committee, who would come out on top?

In this face-off, we’ll break down their skills: MrBeast's knack for collaboration and innovation vs. Greta's grit and moral clarity, and see who truly has what it takes to win over a committee.

MrBeast: The Charitable Visionary 🌍

If there’s one thing MrBeast knows, it’s thinking big. He’s proven he knows how to gather a crowd and make waves. So, how would he fare in a MUN committee?

Pros:

  • Knows how to hook an audience: Mr. Beast would know that his first 15 seconds are the most important. He'd start with a bold statement, a powerful story, or a compelling question that makes everyone in the room sit up and pay attention - If you can't get your peers to listen to your ideas, you have no chance of persuading them to support your resolution.
  • Effective Team Player: He also knows how to get people to work together toward a common goal. With a generosity-first mindset, he can build a team of people who are happy to work with him.
  • Problem-Solver: He’s always finding creative solutions to massive problems, whether it's funding a billion-dollar charity challenge or building homes. In MUN, the ability to think on your feet and create unique policy proposals is a game-changer.

Cons:

  • Lack of Technical Expertise: Mr Beast isn't one who likes to take a strong position. In MUN, it's possible that he might flip-flop too much to be a reliable partner.
  • A Bit Too Big-Picture: Eventually in MUN, you need to focus on the details. While Mr Beast’s big ideas are great, he might struggle with the more nitty-gritty parts of resolution-writing. Will he focus too much on the end goal and overlook the essential details?

Greta Thunberg: The Political Crusader 🌱

Greta Thunberg is arguably one of the most influential voices in the climate movement today. Her unwavering commitment to climate action have mobilized millions around the world. So, how would she do in MUN?

Pros:

  • Passionate and Articulate: Greta knows how to bring attention to hot-button issues with strong positions. Her ability to articulate her position could provide the clarity that other delegates would need to work with her.
  • Deep Knowledge of Global Issues: Greta is no stranger to the complexities of global problems, especially when it comes to environmental policy. She’d come into MUN well-prepared with a solid grasp of the topic at hand and could craft detailed, relevant proposals.
  • Strong Moral Compass: Greta would bring a strong moral grounding to any committee, reminding everyone what’s at stake and keeping the focus on genuine solutions.

Cons:

  • Potential for Friction: As a strong personality with firm views, Greta might not be as flexible or willing to compromise as much on policy proposals. MUN requires delegates to negotiate and find middle ground, and Greta’s all-or-nothing approach could cause tension in certain committees.

So, Who Would Win?

Well, the answer isn’t so simple. It all depends on the MUN committee, the issue at hand, and the tactics that both bring to the table.

  • MrBeast would shine in a larger committee with more blocs where big-blocs and big-ideas are at play.
  • Greta Thunberg would absolutely crush in a more detail-oriented committee where it's easier to focus the committee on one key issue.

The Verdict? Maybe it’s not about who would make the better MUN delegate, it’s about how both could use their unique strengths to make a meaningful impact. And maybe that's just what MUN is all about.
